Christmas is the most joyous time of year. Sure it can come with added stresses of travel, getting the perfect gift, decorating, budgeting for gifts, family, etc.

Decorating does not have to be a burden nor does it have to be expensive. As much as you may want to associate your current Christmas decor with the current trends, I suggest not being pressured into doing so. I found these videos from vloggers on YouTube of Dollar store DIYs and Target dollar spot halls, etc. It can drive you kind of crazy with wanting to do all the ideas but pick and choose based on your style and trends.

My style is more traditional Christmas with the red, green and white colors taking center stage. I gain inspiration from various sources and make them my own.

In my opinion no Christmas decor is complete without a Christmas village, so we had spread out the village due to space limitations in our home and think we did a pretty decent job. I had to have the lighthouse of course, coming from the East Coast. Jack is usually the one to set up the houses and the trick, he uses DVD and video game cases to add height to the homes to mimic hills.

My favorite DIY was from ChicOnTheCheap YouTube channel, the Dollar Tree reindeer, total cost = $12 or $13 if you do not already have the Pompom for Rudolph. This project was oh so easy.

Here is what you will need, all items are from the dollar tree:

  • 9x Dollar Tree Reindeer Ornaments

  • 3x Small Square Mirrors

  • 1x Small Bag of Pom Poms

Instructions

  • Remove the tags.

  • Arrange as if pulling a sleigh with Rudolph out in front.

  • I chose not to hot glue the reindeer down onto the mirrors for easy storage afterwards. But feel free to do so.

  • Hot glue the red pompom onto the nose of the reindeer in front and let dry.

Target Dollar Spot finds:

Below you will find a few hidden gems from the Target dollar spot and the wonder shop. They do get picked over fast though, and different targets vary on selections.

  • Tea towels

  • Tiny white houses (I added the wreathes.)

  • Believe sign

  • Flocked trees in Burlap for $3 each

  • Blocked believe and Merry Christmas signs. Only $3 each and nice quality with Glitter accents.

Buffalo check is very on trend right now, I loved this bucket and for only $3, I got it and used it by the fireplace so our comfy and warm socks.

Another major trend is farmhouse style, which, besides the white houses, I didn't really get into, but if that is your theme they had a lot to choose from for that as well.

Here are some of my other decorations. Hope you enjoyed this blog post, put any questions or comments below.

Have very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!! Stay safe and warm. Cherish your time with family and friends, play games, eat food, drink and be merry!
